Coaching for Internationals

For immigrants, expats, and anyone who is planning to settle in Amsterdam

As much as moving to a new country and building a new life in the vibrant city of Amsterdam is a beautiful adventure, it’s not easy. No major life change is easy — in fact, change (good or bad) is a huge stressor for the nervous system.

The truth is: as people we need others for support, and you shouldn’t go through this process without proper guidance. You need someone who knows all the ins and outs of settling into Amsterdam, and I can be your guide through this whole experience.

With my Holistic approach, I look at the different levels at which this move impacts you as a human being, as well as those around you. I can assist with logistical, cultural, social, psychological, and spiritual challenges that come with such a change. This way, you ensure that you calmly settle into Amsterdam and feel grounded and safe in your new hometown — ready to build your life and career here.

Coaching for Internationals is for you when

(you can relate to any of the following points)

You feel overwhelmed

There’s so much to arrange and you don’t know where to start

You feel disconnected from yourself, the people, city, country, or your loved ones back home

You don’t feel grounded, like you can’t get a foothold in this city or country

You’re experiencing stress and mild psychological challenges

You feel lonely

You want to know how to navigate your (social) life, career, the Dutch systems, or the culture

You see this as an opportunity for growth, and you need help navigating this time in your life

You want to start your own business in The Netherlands

You have children and need help with the logistical things (at daycare, school, etc.)

You don’t want to end up in the “Expat Bubble” but you want to feel like you’re part of the Amsterdam people

My story

Born and raised in Amsterdam as the daughter of an immigrant mom and a Dutch dad, I’ve experienced firsthand what it’s like to settle into a new country, culture, career, social circle, and more. Throughout my life, I’ve dealt with the major changes this brings about in a person’s life and those of their loved ones (including the ones who are left behind).

In the first six years of my career, I worked as an Operations Manager for a tech startup. I organized the move of many international colleagues and helped them settle into the city and their new lives.

In 2018 I met my husband, who moved to The Netherlands to be with me. We went through it all: arranging visitor visas and the MVV, the Inburgeringsexamen, and applying for Dutch citizenship some years later. And of course, he had to settle into a new life here as he was starting a family, changing careers, and finding a job.

I combine these life experiences with my knowledge of Amsterdam and the Dutch systems into a unique coaching method. Together, we can transform this major life change into a portal for positivity and growth.

Pricing

I offer personalized coaching programs, where we determine the number of sessions together in advance. Depending on the coachee's needs, the program can be short-term or spread over a longer period.

Coaching is not covered by insurance, but did you know that employers are often very willing to cover (part of) the costs? You might have a budget for personal development in your employment benefits, or your employer may have a separate fund for this. Fortunately, there is increasing awareness in the workplace regarding mental health,— especially as burnout rates are rising nationwide. Employers are therefore keen to invest in prevention, which you can certainly leverage.

Do you need help discussing this with your manager or HR team? I’m here to assist you with that.

Method

Intake

During the intake, we will address your coaching question. Through targeted questions, I ensure we get a clear overview of the various focal points and how I will guide you. We will differentiate between practical matters and more abstract challenges. Then, we will determine which (holistic) tools suit you and create a coaching plan accordingly.

After the intake, you will already feel more grounded.

Alignment

After the intake, we will spend 1-2 sessions addressing the main challenges you are facing. I will guide you in managing the more practical matters and quick solutions, empowering you to tackle them independently.

We will cover themes such as housing, insurance, finding work or negotiating contracts, (additional) education, and provide you with tools to navigate this initial period. The goal is to help you settle and ground in your new location smoothly, making this a stress-free transition.

Transformation

Based on your needs, we’ll delve deeper into the mental and spiritual impact this move has on the different levels of you as a person, and on your loved ones. We will explore this together using Systemic tools, and I will guide you through a process that allows you to experience and integrate this life change in a gentle way.

After each session, we will create an action plan for you to work on independently, with the option for short check-ins or additional coaching sessions for further support.

Integration

In this final phase of the coaching journey, we reflect on the process so far, the challenges you've encountered, areas for growth, and how to refine the plan. The goal is that at this point, you are fully empowered to continue to build your life and future in the Netherlands independently.

While the first three phases focused on your individual role within the systems you are part of, we now shift to a broader context. We look at the impact you can make on the world around you and how you can continue your journey of growth in the future.
